SPRING WORKSHOPS 2020

These workshops are for artists working in a figurative/representational style.  Please take the time to read this overview of what you can expect. The aim of the workshops is: to hone your drawing & painting skills;  to discuss and explore western figurative traditions and their conceptual and skill influences on your art production; to inspire you to new ways, formally, technically & conceptually of working towards your artistic goals; and to work intensely in the company of other figurative artists.

Your instructor Duker Bower will emphasize a figurative/representational approach heavily informed by a drawing tradition begun in Renaissance Italy that has been an inspirational touchstone for figurative artists ever since.  Its qualities of line; proportion; spacial integration; anatomy; realism, naturalism; contour; body & facial expressiveness; form; light & shadow, etc., will be explored. Instruction will be done through demonstration,  observation, commentary, group discussion,  and plenty of working from life at your easel. For a fuller description of Duker's approach in these workshops, please go to the WORKSHOPS drop-down menu above> COURSES, for descriptions of individual guiding elements of the workshops.

All workshops at the Inn at Charlotte B&B include: access to shared studio space in our old one-room schoolhouse studio; limited storage; parking; the Common Room for meetings, crits, eating, etc.; a beautiful countryside location in Vermont's Lake Champlain Valley; great local restaurants & other foodie delights (beer, wine, cheese); plenty of recreational activities including hiking, biking and much more, all just out your door.  All Workshops have an Inn at Charlotte B&B lodging-included option. We also provide several suggested nearby  lodging options.

Stay tuned for future workshop dates.
